Using Cicero’s Unique Approach to Integrate Applications in a Virtualized Environment without Writing Code
Enterprises continue to explore the use of virtualization software such as Citrix, VMWare, and Microsoft Terminal Services to provide access to one or more applications to end users without having to install and maintain applications on each computer. Virtualized environments also allow IT groups to share and manage resources and software licenses from a centralized data center further reducing desktop application support and maintenance costs.
The primary challenge that enterprises are now faced with is how to integrate applications within and outside these virtualized environments. Unfortunately, there are few solutions available and those that are require that you write application code, use web services, or implement expensive, time-consuming software and infrastructure.
Cicero supports the integration of virtualized applications in three different deployment models: client-side, server-side, and combined client and server-side integration. Although Cicero supports the creation and consumption of Web Services, Cicero does not require the use of Web Services to integrate and automate applications in a virtualized environment such as Citrix, VMWare, and Microsoft Terminal Services.

The following example shows how Cicero is used in a Citrix virtualized environment.
Server-side or Client-side
Cicero integrates local and virtual applications to create a unified, task-oriented desktop. In both scenarios Cicero streamlines workflow and improves end user productivity without changes to the applications and without writing any new code.
Server and Client side
Using the new Cicero Virtual Channel™, line-of-business applications running in a virtualized environment (such as that provided by Citrix’s XenApp™ Server) can be integrated with desktop productivity tools and public data sources to create a seamless user experience.
